While I may be in Toronto and able to see what is happening around here, there is a much bigger world to explore in a number of real and virtual ways. Carol Westfall provided me with a preview of FiberPhiladelphia 2012 which is under way others are sending me event invites or sharing on facebook, sending press releases to my fibre_quarterly@yahoo.ca address [ EAST/PACIFIC/WEST: CONFLUENCE sent by Claire Campbell Park see below}then of course there is the scouring through gallery and museum websites, checking events listings on line and in magazines. All of this is time consuming but necessary. Editorial space in print magazines for exhibition reviews is scarce and for textile shows there is even less. This space needs to negotiated for months in advance of the actual events. The need for high res images of work to be shown along with bios of the makers involved and the space where the exhibitions are being held is necessary so we become dependent of public relations / communications people. with social media/ networking becoming the source of advance information the timing of it is so tight you find out about local events the day before.
with that in mind here is a quick sampling of things happening in the next few weeks.

Now the big question is which if any of these exhibitions will get coverage, previewed in local media print or virtual. Will any get reviewed and where? While we can share photo albums on facebook. write things up in blogs, share the postings, use tags and key words and hope our postings show up on searches. then move on to the next search, the next opening
